Who we are:
The Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sommelier profession. The CAPS Ontario chapter is based in Toronto and with the Association Canadienne des Sommeliers Professionels (ACSP), based in Montreal, are part of the Association de la Sommelierie Internationale (ASI) to which 40 other member nations belong with headquarters in Paris. CAPS (ACSP) is a membership-based organization with chapter development in British Columbia and Nova Scotia. CAPS Atlantic is the newest member. The CAPS Ontario’s goal is to strengthen working relationships between members, wine professionals consumers and the hospitality industry in Canada and abroad.
Our mission is to:
1. promote international-level standards of performance through the CAPS Certified Sommelier Program, offered in conjunction with and through George Brown College, Toronto and Niagara College, Niagara-on-the-Lake. For details, click on the ‘Our Programs’ tab.2. promote the profession through participation in national and international sommelier competitions.
3. support members’ continuing education through ongoing professional development opportunities of wines, spirits, beers, and other beverages.
4. notify the membership regarding job postings and other industry opportunities.
5. provide networking opportunities within the food and beverage industry.
