Who we are:
The Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sommelier profession. The CAPS Ontario chapter is based in Toronto and with the Association Canadienne des Sommeliers Professionels (ACSP), based in Montreal, are part of the Association de la Sommelierie Internationale (ASI) to which 55 other member nations belong with headquarters in Paris. The ASI headquarters are currently in Japan, and the web address is: www.sommellerie-internationale.com
Our mission, as a not-for-profit organization, is to educate and promote the sommelier profession, including knowledge, service and management, to the hospitality industry, and thereby consumers, in Ontario, Canada, and throughout the world. It is also our mission to provide a forum to encourage camaraderie, ongoing professional development, and networking for our members.
Our Objectives:
1. To promote international-level standards of performance through the CAPS Certified Sommelier Program.
2. To promote the profession through participation in national and international Sommelier competitions.
3. To support members’ continuing education and development through ongoing professional opportunities.
4. To promote and support our links with the other ASI Chapters in Canada and the world.
5. To provide networking and community opportunities for Sommeliers within the food and beverage industry.
